For many years, there had been hopes that a congress could one day be held in Kyrgyzstan too. Although everything was still very uncertain two weeks beforehand, it was able to take place from 5 to 7 December 2025 in the capital city of Bishkek. The theme of the congress was ‘renewal’! The Minister of Social Affairs attended the opening ceremony. There was a varied cultural programme and an overview of congresses around the world.

On the second day, the German Embassy hosted a Christmas market. It was a good opportunity to draw attention to the participants’ concerns and make new contacts. On the third day, the host organisation’s 20th anniversary was celebrated. There was also a panel discussion and many opportunities to try out crafts.

A total of up to 100 people took part on all days and are looking forward a second congress in Kyrgyzstan in a year’s time.
