1st Asian Congress “I am able” in Thailand
The 1st Asian Congress, which took place from February 22 to 25, 2024 in downtown Bangkok at the well known Chulalongkorn University, was a great success. The theme was “I am able”. This was proven at every moment by the 170 participants. They came from all over Thailand, from Laos, Vietnam, India, Malaysia, China, Russia and Germany. The press conference was very well received and was even covered by national television. You can watch it here.
We visited museums, famous temples and botanical gardens. There was an introductory talk, panel discussions and several workshops, all related to the topic. The persons with special needs, the professionals and as well as the parents were able to share their thoughts and experiences. There were several cultural performances where participants demonstrated their skills. One of these was a gathering in a busy shopping street. The visitors were obviously very impressed! On the last evening, each country had to be introduced. We enjoyed the Russian “Kalinka”, a poem from Malaysia, songs from Laos and different music performances.
The farewell at the closing ceremony was accompanied by the wish to see each other soon again. Bangkok proved that, despite all obstacles, everyone is able if they want to.
Here you can watch a short documentary about the entire event.
